Guyana's Flag is also called The Golden
Arrowhead. It has 5 symbolic colors. GREEN represents the agricultural
and forested nature of Guyana, WHITE symbolizes the rivers and water
potential of the country, a GOLDEN arrow represents Guyana's mineral
wealth, BLACK symbolizes endurance and RED represents the zeal and
dynamism. |

The Amerindian-style headdress
symbolizes the Amerindians - Guyana's indigenous people. The two
diamonds in the head-dress - the country's mining industry. The helmet
is the monarchical insignia. Two jaguars, one with a pick-axe, another
with a sugar-cane and a stalk of rice symbolize labor and the two main
agricultural industries of Guyana-Sugar and Rice. The protective Shield
is decorated with the National flower, the Victoria Amazonia Lily; three
blue wavy lines representing the many waters of Guyana; and the Canje
Pheasant, a rare bird found mainly in this part of the world. The
Banner, carries Guyana's motto: One people, One nation One Destiny. |
